Guide Updated - 3/2020 | Dungeon Ancient Location, Tips Farming Guide

Introduction:-
Dungeon Ancient farming seems like a long, tedious and pointless effort. However, in this guide, I'll not only share the whats, wheres and hows, but how to effectively integrate it into an effective gold or experience grind for your dragon, your gold bank, or your egg nests. I'll also share with you a much, much easier way to get dragons to spawn in less than four hours, and not just that - multiples at a time.

Setting up the run:-
This is a fairly large section, so I've spoilered it.

Create at least four more game accounts! You can manage your accounts under the 'accounts' setting on the forum. You can make up to 10 sub accounts here. It's worth making them for egg caring, battlegrounds buffering, and dungeon buffering. The latter we're going to use for our Dungeon Ancients.
  • upload_2020-3-31_22-29-27.png
  • Do NOT make more than one forum account. That's a fast ticket to get you banned. Only make accounts though the accounts page once you're signed in.
We're of course going to be multiboxing here.

Multiboxing on Adept's Dragon's Prophet is absolutely fine! I get this question a lot - this won't get you banned here. Due to the way some mechanics work, it's highly beneficial you do so if you're able to.

To launch multiple clients, just click the dp_x64.exe or dp.86.exe a couple of times. If you have a fairly average gaming computer, you won't want to start more than 5 anyway. Make sure your new accounts are set to minimum settings, minimal ui, and the smallest window you can manage to optimise performance. Play in windowed mode to quickly switch clients with Alt + TAB!

As for our little guys getting around to the dungeon we want.

This button is going to be our most vital ally. The transportation book will allow us to quickly move around. Get your main to mark the location of the dungeon gate, and use co-op scrolls, shadow step scrolls - even dungeon teleport scrolls and have every member mark the location, in the case you want to come back to this spot later. It's likely you might need a break with all this farming, or you may want to come back to it another day. Teleport scrolls are VERY easily available. You get free portals daily, on top of the very cheap kindred wheel providing many scrolls most of the time.

Set up at the most effective
Minor dungeon for you (Minor dungeons are explained in the next section below.) When you pick a target dragon in a region, you want to then pick the dungeon you know you can complete the fastest.

Once you're set up and standing in front of your dungeon, you'll be ready to begin!

The Mechanics of Dungeon Points:-
Another very long section, so I've spoilered it.

To spawn a dragon (especially the + type dungeons listed below) the normal rate is 1/1666 on hard mode and 1/833 on easy mode. This rate was obtained through the original Taiwanese servers. This seems like a lot to ask, for someone to run a 4 minute dungeon over 800 times.

However, to supplement players with insufficient luck, a points counter was enabled in most dungeons. Those that lack it either are bugged (Laedis) or were never designed for it (OG Bakra.) To hit this goal we need 300 points total, but the dragon can still spawn before then.

unknown.png

Twilight Ocean spawning at 113 instead of 300, hitting the 1/833 odds.
unknown.png

Believe me, I was pretty pissed when this guy spawned early, but I'll explain why later in this guide.
Thanks to the visual dungeon point counter, you now have a clear way of telling how long you have before a dragon will spawn. Upon clearing the boss, you'll see the dungeon points both overhead and in the yellow system text. Keep an eye on it every run!
Important note! The visual counter will relay the points of the PREVIOUS dungeon you ran of this instance. If your visual counter reports 294 points, your current run is 299! Don't ask why this is the case, but be aware of this as you could spawn things early.

upload_2020-3-31_22-56-12.png

Each time you run a dungeon you gain 1 point per person for the dungeon you ran. Considering most dungeons only allow 5 players, we can assume that you get 5 points per time. Our target is 300 of course, but even though you hit 300 you're not guaranteed to see it next run. From that point onward, the rates change to somewhere theorised between 10% - 30%.

Here's the math. If we ran alone, that would be 300 runs. A 4 minute dungeon times 300 is 20 hours. God no.

angtft.jpg

Comparatively, when we run with 5 people, we have 60 runs to do instead. That's only 4 hours. Still seems like a lot to you?

Let's make good of our investment even further.

When a dungeon ancient spawns, it resets the points of EVERYONE present in the dungeon. If we use this knowledge to our advantage, we can quintuple our timesink.

This is where our alts come in!

At around 294 points, (This is actually 299 if you're running with five) reduce your party to two members. Both of these members will have their points at zero when the dungeon is finished. If you can help it, use a separate alt with your main character so you don't lose two 300 point rolls for this particular part.

Note that, members will only have points reset while INSIDE the dungeon. This means that you can have other members in your party, but casually wait outside the instance.

Remember that Dungeon Ancients are still between 10%-30% spawn rate at this point, so they won't show up right away. So if you hit 310 points with just two and see no signs of the dragon, don't panic, you're just extra unlucky. Typically you'll see the dragon within minutes.

When we conserve point spending in this way, we can spawn up to 5 dragons! That's one dragon in less than an hour, not so bad now huh?

On top of this, we can also use the points in other minor dungeons in the region to spawn different stuff!

Extra benefits of Dungeon Ancient Farming
  • Push your alts in when only at the boss, to reduce time farming!
  • You'll also get all hardmode loot, plus extra eggs at the end if you're lucky (Sometimes two a run!)
  • Bring your dragon companion out to increase speed farming, give them experience, and farm provisions if you have the buff.
  • Sell the loot at an underworld merchant, or extract it for other nicknacks. but only if you want to spend time doing that.
  • You'll give you're friends lots of kindred bags! (They'll love you, I promise.)
  • In Porthis, Thadrea and Sitheran, you'll be swimming in armour mats, which go for ALOT of gold.
  • Run on hard mode rather than easy! You get tons of loot for your level and it's not that much more difficult.
  • If you want to risk it, run the fastest dungeon in the region to 294. Dungeon points are effective FOR THAT REGION. If you get nearly 300 points on each alt in Korhala for example, you can spawn 1 carnelian warden, 1 black smog, 1 dancing rook and use the points remaining to spawn dupes if you like.
  • You can cross Minor dungeon points to Major Dungeons.
  • Running easy mode gives one point on easy. Running hard mode gives 1 point on easy and 1 point on hard.
  • Dragon levels are now calculated on an average of your current party. Please bear this in mind *before* you spawn the dragon. For example if you have a level 108 and a level 20 in your party, the level average calculated is 54. It doesn't matter if this member is waiting outside, it still calculates.

The Dungeons:-
There are dungeons great and small throughout Auratia. For the purposes of this guide, I'll refer to dungeons that have multiple bosses as Major Dungeons. All other dungeons with a single boss are Minor dungeons. For example, Dunar Temple is a Major Dungeon because it has 4 bosses instead of one. Aymori Sands is Minor, because it has only one boss.

As of this update, Major dungeons are supposed to have dungeon ancients like Minor dungeons, but there's some extra jump hoops in the code to make them happen. I'll include them in this collection regardless with blank entries, so they can be filled later.

Major dungeons now have ancients.

Any dungeons marked with + means that they do not use the points system, but can still spawn a dragon.

Format is:-

Dungeon Name - Dragon Name - Speed ranking

Speed Ranking refers to how quickly you can complete the dungeon. This is based on opinion and character class, you may have a different experience. I'll grade these from F for worst and S rank for best. Use your discretion when running to accrue points. F will always apply to dungeons without a point system. An S ranking typically means you'll find your dragon in much quicker time.

Click the Spoiler under each Dungeon name to reveal what dragons lie there.

In Closing:-

I hope you find this guide helpful. Formatting this was a pain in the ass, but I get a lot of questions about dungeon ancient hunting in general. The first post itself may need a little bit of clean up here and there, but I wanted to pick up from where Genmii/Wolf not only left off, but add with even more detail and tips than before.

If you have any questions, feel free to use the thread or ask me in game. I play fairly actively, so I'll keep it as up to date as I can.

Suggestion Ranger set less Fero more Str / Focus

Rangers suffer a good bit from damageloss due to them having more Ferocity and less Strength on their sets. If you compare eg. Oracle set with Ranger set you see that the Ranger set gives 300 Ferocity and 250 Focus / Strength, while the Oracle set gives you 200 Ferocity and 450 DA / Int. Also the Oracle gets 1k HP instead of 300 points of Chance crit or 400 Points of Strength crit. So to put it basic Terms, the Ranger is loosing 200 points of either Strength or Focus for 100 points of Ferocity and 300 chance or 400 strength crit, wich is really not worth in comparison, assuming you dont have 1.2k shards everywhere. It would help out the Ranger a lot to just get the Focus or Strength instead. Then mounting fishes would be more of an Option and the Ranger would also potentially be a little more tanky, wich would be a nice change. I wouldn't recommend to balance it however with giving the Ranger more Ferocity though, because he can already hit hardcap on both chance and strength crit as is.
Even if its just changed for the upcomming 108 Armor, it would be a nice change.

Suggestion Rejected Laedis Hero Costume Set? Maybe recoloured ?=

Hey, would it be possible to add Laedis hero set ( weapons + maybe new created laedis offhand costumes) to the item shop? so you can have it as costume ? :D without need to do 102 weapon as costume...:X
maybe option for adding recoloured versions ? would kill to have a recoloured "laedis weapon" as costume :D
even if its like 2k or 3k diamonds I would buy it XD

  • Poll
Announcement Battleground Testing

Because we need players to actually test if the changes I made will work for Battleground, I want to know if players are okay with us live-testing for a week; if it works it'll allow players to have 3v3 Battleground. If it doesn't, there will be a week without Battleground.

Going to make this a poll so just vote yes or no. I will say though, I am mostly going to focus on PvP players and not PvE players, so the actual votes will are going to be weighted.

  • Question
Bug Report Ranger 30% ele buff doesnt work 90% of the time

So rangers have an ele buff on agno with their dragonbreath, wich is supposed to give you AND your teammates in range a 27.3% ele buff sor something like 20 seconds, but only the Ranger gets the buff the overwelming amount of time. Doesnt male a difference if you shoot through your teammates or how close you stand to them, wich is pretty sad since it doesnt make ranger + full ele mage the powerhouse it is supposed to be.

Oracle 1H Istalon PvE/PvP (Holy Trinity+)

Dps, tanking, and heals, oh my!......BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
That's right, folks! Right now for the low low price(plus grinding and leveling) of one class, you can be the next best thing since FlexTape!
Not only is an Oracle a perfect Bandaid for all problems in game, it is also the solution for sucking in real life.
The Oracle easily fills all 3 main roles it covers many sub-roles as well! Effective at all ranges in combat, this class also provides many CC effects, buffs, and debuffs. Somebody post some Oracle Doge memes. wow
This class has some serious balls and this build showcases many great attributes of the Oracle that even beginners can learn with.

ATTRIBUTES:
Full INT, why not

BASIC MASTERIES:
Talisman Mastery 10/10 (DAMAGE)
Flash Shadow 1/10 (pass through enemies while dealing damage and a combo)
Strong Physique 9/10 (you can replace this with anything really, I just prefer it)
Enhanced Intelligence 10/10 (more INT)
Over Limit 5/10 (CC immunity)
Frozen Time 5/10 (Time stopping balls)(long range)

WEAPON MASTERIES:
Flying Blade 10/10 (3 stunning balls penetrating in a mid ranged forward cone)
Impact core 10/10 (Large long ranged ball explodes on miss)
Soul Blast 5/10 (AoE repel)
Spinning Blade 10/10 (2 short ranged bleeding balls)
Soul Assault 5/10 (dodge backwards shooting a ball) combos with soul blast and spinning blade
Shocking Resolution 10/10 (call 4 bolts of lightning down in a forward mid ranged line)
Cure 10/10 (This is amazing. mid ranged targeted cure. lasts 12 seconds and ticks for massive heals every 2 seconds with nearly no CD!)

DRAGON GOD MASTERIES:
Amethyst Illusion 10/10 (AoE +30% magic damage buff with a 30 sec CD and lasts 60 sec....)
Amethyst storm(left) 10/10 (Long ranged targeted, AoE light storm that debuffs the mag/Phy damage of all it hits with its massive damage)
Amethyst protection 5/10 (recovers SP and deals extra damage when you whack something) tiny balls

Really, do what feels best with the attributes. This build can be used anywhere you take your Oracle. It really does most
everything you want in a party. If you want to abuse amethyst illusion, the adrenaline surge soul skill, and blessing of oziak soul skill,
I would suggest just the int set. Other things work of course but you can get crazy high magic damage and...roughly 60% crit chance with
little effort really.

Thanks for your time and please leave comments after you give it a try!

Guardian 1-H Piersar PvE/PvP (CounterClysm)

Well it sure has been a while....again....*cough*.... Anyways, I was looking at my polls and it seems a lot of people like 1-H Piersar and I do too, so we shall dive in and explore this high paced build that any party would love to have!

ATTRIBUTE POINTS:
Ferocity: 200
(crits do a ton of work in this build)
Focus/Constitution: 121 (focus might be generally better but con gives you natural damage)

BASIC MASTERIES:
1-H Weapon Mastery 10/10
(20% more damage? ok)
Strong body 10/10 (Con is good for you)
Life Blessing 10/10 (Hp is also good for you but feel free to take other things)
Invincibility 10/10 ( stun breaker and 5 sec anti cc with AoE knock back)

WEAPON MASTERIES:
Shield block 5/10
(got a shield so why not? It's really good too)
counterattack 5/10 (required for a god mastery)
Backhand slash 10/10 (restores tons of AP and is a free skill. good vs prarie fire)
Reckless Rush 5/10 (required for god skill, fun combo piece, stuns)
Shield Bash 5/10 (activates the next skill)
Vulnerability attack 10/10 (activates everything, most critical skill and it is passive)
Spiral Slash 10/10 (lots of hits and tons of damage from this combo)
Swirling Shield 5/10 (activates vulnerability attack)
Spiral Slash-combo 5/10 (more slashing, more crits)

DRAGON GOD MASTERIES:
Counter Storm(right) 10/10
(A true dream, staggers bosses, tons of damage, heals, this is everything)
Sword of fortitude(left) 10/10 (recovers DS, quick and can be used during counter storms)
Light of fortitude(right) 1/10 (helps you and the party resist cc for 12 seconds and stuff)
Shield of fortitude(left) 1/10 (3 second knock down AoE, also helps the party a bit)
warning step(left) 3/10 (this here is your "oh shit" button)

This build is a high paced one that lets you help allies and yourself, works great pretty much anywhere.
Make sure you practice with it before you go to war.
Gear yourself towards crit chance, CON, and natural damage.

Thanks for reading and have an amazing day!

Suggestion Implemented Captured (wild) dragons vs Egg (tame) dragons.

Dear community

I know this has been on the list for much much longer but in my personal opinion there has to be an added value to capturing dragons out there in the wilds to caring for a dragon egg all day while afk.
Hence I also added a poll to see if the system is fine as it is. Better improve the capped dragons, change how egg dragons are better or just leave everything as a status quo. Reason why I start so early with this poll is to get a hopefully good amount of votes to see which direction this community likes to go.

Sincerely Lalolalo9

Bug Report Solved Personal Lair Manager

Hi everyone!
Just a suggestion, or maybe more of a question. Is the personal lair manager supposed to start counting down immediately when I get it? I really would love to have this as something I can keep for later, but noticed the timer began as soon as I clicked and released it from the dragon egg bundle.
Thanks!

Developer Update Third Anniversary Development Update

It has been three years since we first launched the Dragon's Prophet server, and a lot has changed (at least behind the scenes).

As with the last years update, the biggest change has been the data tool and how far we have gotten with it. We are now able to start adding actual data and the like to the game, as well as find some of the issues that the server suffered (looking at you 102 quests). While we have mostly stuck to smaller things such as adding new dragons and utilitarian items, we are going to start looking at doing other data changes and adding new content soon. Before we start doing more content changes however, we are going to be re-doing our data tool and moving it to a webapp, so that we can have multiple people working on data at one time. You'll notice how we will sometimes have issues with data updates, and that is normally because two people will overwrite each other updates, and it's a bit hard to manage the current workflow. Moving to a web app will mean we can have multiple people working and publishing changes with an approval system, as well as allow us to add people who can do translations so we can do more than just the ENEU language.

Another update is that we have finally completed a compiled client that is in feature parity with the current client; this means that there are no major bugs and that we are looking at releasing an update to run it live. This will allow us to add new functionality and look at fixing some of the issues with Dragon's Prophet stability. One of the first things we are going to start looking at is either updating Scaleform (the UI engine used for Dragon's Prophet) or seeing if the actual UI is portable to HTML. Updating Scaleform may increase performance up to 40%, and work better on modern CPU/GPU, while moving to HTML would give better performance while also giving us more flexibility and the ability to offer a new UI entirely. We will still need to judge which solution is more viable, and which will offer the best benefit to the game. We are still dealing with a rubberbanding issue on the compiled server, so we are still having to work on that as well before we can fully take over what we want to do on Dragon's Prophet, but hey, at least some progress.

Going back to content and data changes, we have fixed and compiled the exporter tool, but have absolutely no idea in how it works, or whether it works at all. Dragon’s Prophet uses its own custom format for skeletons, data models and animations, so once we figure all that out Aiden can start doing some custom models. We have also gotten the map tool to work, though we have not really worked with that much as priorities have been on other things. As with the exporter, we will need to figure out how the tool works and see whether it is in a condition to be usable or if it needs more adjustment.

In the last year we have fixed the Laedis 102 questline and added several new Dragons to the game. While this doesn’t seem like much to some, this is quite a big step considering the complicated nature of data and content in Dragon’s Prophet. It has also allowed us to learn more about the game and how to work out some of the issues and problems that go into working on it. There are still tasks that we have wanted to do that we are still researching (Like B19 territory war), but as soon as we discover them, we will implement them once we know they work without issues.

I’ve mentioned a few of our future and current plans in the paragraphs above, but a few of the things we will be working on initially for the rest of the year are as follows. First, I will be looking at finally finishing up the second part of the Dungeon Dragon rollout; other things have taken priority as each dungeon will require about 4-10 restarts and that is around 15-20 minutes each restart… So very time consuming. Aiden will also begin working on at least one new Dragon soon, though that is mostly dependent on her availability and how in-depth the design she goes with will be. I will also be going over suggestions and plans we have received or discussed internally and see if any of them can start to be implemented into the game at the current stage we are at, or if we can start laying the foundation for future updates now.

Once we reach the next stage of development, we will likely begin looking at releasing the next Laedis equipment set and working on new maps and dungeons. However, that is dependent on getting the proper tools working, learning how to use them, and documenting things so that I can spread out some of the work to others, so I am not stuck doing everything.

Announcement Nyssilth, the Toxic Tyrant & Laedis 102 Fixed

DragonsProphet_20191208_192852.jpg

As promised here is the new hand-painted Duskreaver Nyssilth, the Toxic Tyrant by @Aiden. Due to how dark and drab most Duskreavers are, Aiden wanted to try to add a bit of color to their family and took inspiration from Poison Dart Frogs and Sea Slugs.

I will also be changing how long the monthly Dragons are available, so Nyssilth will be available until Friday the 21st at 11:59PM. This should hopefully give everyone a chance to get the dragon.

We have also now officially fixed the Laedis 102 quest so everyone can get all the 102 accessories and weapons.
