New player here, old DP player back in the day

Greetings!
Apologies in advance for the wall of text, I have a habit of rambling on and have a hard time getting to the point of things haha (sorry).

I used to play on the NA version of Dragon's Prophet from the day it first popped into beta, till the day it unfortunately shut down. Then moved to the EU version and all the times that one switched companies/publishers/I honestly have no idea what its called. I've spent a bit of money each time only to continuously lose everything but never let that get me down because DP (to me, my best friend, and my brother at least) is one of the only 2 MMOs out there that actually does it right (the other one was Vanguard, if any of you played that one too). It's the only one out there that stays fun and you keep coming back to it. We're currently playing on the Savage Hunt version.

About this time last year we had all quit playing because we lost a very good friend in real life. Basically for a long time nothing was good or fun anymore, so none of us payed much attention to what went on with our favorite game. For the past month I've been doing a lot of catch-up on news and everything and learned that Runewaker had shut down their version of the game. That has me concerned quite a bit since Runewaker was the original developers of DP (if my knowledge is correct). Kind of worried the version we're playing is going to end up doing the same down the line. Which especially sucks since we were all getting back into it (and spent money on it again like a bunch of dweebs).

And then I found this place just last night when looking at DP art on DeviantArt!

So I guess my big question is, is this DP server still going strong and is it willing to accept a couple more players? I honestly have no idea how private server things work at all, this is all new to me.
I also read that Bakra and Satuma were re-enabled on here. Is that true?
What kind of differences are there, if any, between Savage Hunt and this server?

Lastly, just for the sake of nostalgia, here some of the fondest memories I've had:
- my first dragon was an Omen Raptor Dragon from Avanah's Omen in Satuma. He only had 5 slots, one taken by the soul skill 'Attribute Wheel' but I used that little guy all the time.
- in the beta all dragons were invisible to me. I died. A lot.
- after learning about dungeon rares, I spent way too long getting Shade Chaser and Thornlash. My brother got Bloodwrath on his first try and I was so mad at him for the longest time
- after learning about Balge, I did 776 runs in Nyrol's Nest to get him. I was completely under geared and under leveled at the time. Technically he was my first ancient. Umbral Glare was my first wild ancient!
- helping my best friend to capture Pale Radiance (its a tradition we've done done every single time we've had to start over)
- having most of the store bought dragons, my fav being the White Stallion.
- my friend and I trying to solo Dunar Temple on the hardest setting, both under geared and under leveled. We succeeded eventually!
- my friend and I spending hours in my secret apartment island and making a tiny town on it.

It's nice to see that you like the game so much! Be aware that yes, RW has stopped DP and will not do anything for DP/SH EU anymore. That's why I'm here. To answer your question, the server is stable and there are still updates here. We even have new dragons... And new system to hunt dragons. Finally, the community is really nice here. We are all fairplay and friendly.

The only real difference between this server and SH is the fact that they too have a free Marketplace dragon eggs who drop in dungeon, but on AdeptGamer, you actually get to CAPTURE them instead of having RNG-Jesus mess you over with the grindy system they have. They work just like normal Dungeon Ancients/Spawn system.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

Yes, Runewaker shut down their main server, but they had been only in basic maintenance mode since ~2015, which is when the last actual content was really made.

As far as this server goes, the population goes up and down as it has always done on Dragon's Prophet but it has been going up more and more since we've started making (smaller) updates to the game. We have a lot planned, and will continue to work on and run the server for as long as we can. We are going on our third year (February 14th is the 3rd anniversary), and we're always welcoming new players.

Bakra is enabled, but it doesn't have everything that Puretia has currently (I have to fix dungeon spawns, and also see about road quests again in a way that doesn't kill the zone once a week), and Satuma is at about 85% ready to launch, but there is still work needed before it can be released (mainly PE being switched to the new zone, and also fixing movement data).

As far as differences... Savage Hunt is essentially the same thing as normal Dragon's Prophet, though they have the Soul Gaze system where you get a marketplace egg. Currently what we have done is we have replaced all but one dungeon in each zone with a new Dragon, so you get the original dungeon Dragon for each zone in one dungeon and every other dungeon has a new Marketplace Dragon. We will also be working on a way to make most (certain Dragons and our exclusive Dragons are exceptions) Dragons wild captures in the future, though they will not use the egg system as the egg system has ruined Dragon's Prophet in my opinion.

We are also working on our own custom Dragons, have released some unimplemented Dragons (Carnelian Warden, which is an unreleased white/orange Duskreaver and Obsidian Thunder from DHT) and will be working on our own models as soon as we can figure out the proper workflow (and debug) the model exporter. We will also begin working on new maps in the future, though we will need a dedicated mapper for that as I do not have the time or ability to focus on that.

Another few things to note:

• We have a spawn calendar that will display whenever a Dragon is captured: Spawn calendar
• When running dungeons, you will get an active count of your prior dungeon points so you do not have to manually track them for the dungeon spawn.
• We have a GM event every Saturday at 3PM PST/PDT; if you set your timezone on this site, it'll show the time in your timezone on the right sidebar.
  • I recommend going to the event tomorrow as we will be giving out a new exclusive custom painted Dragon by @Aiden for the event, and it will only be available for that day.
• We offer 1000x1000 custom houses with custom scripted Dragons, and the rent is 100 gold per day. They're $25, but this is because it takes between 1-4 hours depending on what people want on their house.
• We also offer custom titles that offer boosted stats, which includes Draconic Influence, though the impact of stats other than DI is honestly negligible.
• We have a Diamond sale every other week; usually it will be 30% though sometimes I will throw out a 50%, but that mostly depends on my mood at the time. We will also very rarely have a double Diamond sale, but I would never count on them as it does it's very rare.
  • There is a 30% sale active until Sunday at 12PM PST.

Hail and well met Viv, welcome to the server. I am a fellow rambler, so you're not alone. So sorry for your loss of a friend.

This server is great! Way friendly people, great customer service. I can relate to the "first dragon" love. My first was on the original NA servers as well and was a Stalwart. Ever since then they are my fave dragons and was the first dragon I capped when I joined this server. You mention a play style that I've always enjoyed, the group that embraces the "Hail Mary, we may die, but we gonna try.".
