Originally we had planned for only doing 5 winners, however with expanding the deadline and with the submissions that we got towards the end we ended up expanding the amount of winning submissions to 10.

I do plan to make some of the honorable mentions from all the contests - many of the honorable mentions weren't in the top 10 purely because that person already had another winning entry.

Opal is a white stone that splits white light and shows every color of the color spectrum due to the internal structure of the opal. You can read more about how they're formed and a more technical answer here:

When it comes to usage of color, 10 is the most technical. When put in game if we can pull it off it'll also likely be one of the ones with the most eye catching appearance up close because of layering with emissive. If you look at the crystals on Atropus and invert it white and use lighter more subtle colors, that's close to the effect we would hope to achieve.

I would recommend opening up 10 and looking closely at the actual details, or getting your eyes checked because you may possibly be partially blind or color blind where subtle colors are lost to you. Or maybe not be an asshole with your opinion and let the winners enjoy the fact that they submitted work that was accepted.

Peach Blossom was chosen because there was no other pink dragon submitted and the colors chosen work well together. I've always said one of the main ways to win is to look at variations of colors that don't exist in the family or that specific model. It's why a green dragon was guaranteed to win, just like why two natural pony dragons won last time; they don't exist in the actual game and they are unique because of it.

11 and 12 could not win, but may still make it into the game. We only accept one entry per winner. Crystalline Monarch is more eye catching than Blood Crystal, and we already planned to do a lava Crystalline Chaos so choosing it for a winner would be redundant, and Creaking Rust gives us a chance to play texturing to make something different.

Opinions on art is subjective or objective, but having an opinion doesn't mean you get to be an asshole. We need to cater for everyone's tastes and that means you may not like every dragon design or winner in a contest.

That's something we had planned on doing when we decided to select that model.

Quite a few of the submissions for this and past contests will be free dragons implemented in different ways once we have the foundation for what we have planned done.

i cant really understand some of the choices here. like the second one. doesnt really fit to the super fluffy looking model of the dragon and would fit much more to the night queen one (or whatever the dragons name was). but blazing charcoal , Phoenix risen and blood crystal would fit so much better . and other super great ideas wherent even mentioned :/

• Does this exist in some form in the game, and if it does is it different enough that it has a place
• How much has the design been modified (texture/pattern)
• Do the colors work well together
  • Has the armor been colored in, and does it fit or will it need adjustment
• How possible is it to bring this into the game
• Does the design have potential (meaning does it need adjustments)
• Preference of the judges

Those are the criteria we use, basically in that same order. A note on preference being a criteria, but it mostly means if it is something that Aiden wants to do; if we take the pepe meme submission from a prior contest, and that won, we would still not do it because it is a waste of Aidens time and is not something she likely would enjoy doing. When it takes 2 weeks to 2 months to do a texture, the preference of the person doing the work becomes important.

Also something people may be misunderstanding... If a winner also has a honorable mention, that is basically interchangeable to us. We will prioritize the submission we feel fills a gap in the current variation in a model or a family.

In the case of Creaking Rustwing vs Blazing Charcoal... As I said above, we already plan to do a lava version of Crystalline Chaos. We also chose Creaking Rustwing because it gave Aiden the idea of trying to do some adjustment to the material look of the Dragon so it is not flufffy looking (it is not meant to be, it is literally crystal and diamond in the lore). A metallic Dragon with a grungey appearance is much different than other offerings of this dragon, and most others in the game. Blazing Charcoal will make it into the game, either based off of Samael, or using this as a source, or more likely a combination of the two.

Phoenix Rising and Peach Blossom are also in the same situation; we are going to do both of these, but there are very few good pink Dragons, so Peach Blossom fills a gap more than Phoenix Rising.

Crystalline Monarch and Blood Crystal are again in the same situation, however Crystalline Monarch is the more unique design and there are only two other Dragons with a butterfly concept (Elaris and Kryon). There also may be issues with doing Blood Crystal due to how DP has an issue with mesh morphing on wings.

I also cannot mention every submission that we like; as it is choosing 10 winners and then 5 honorable mentions is 1/5th of the entries this time, so I'm not sure what more you want. Even with all the winners we choose from each contest, we will likely only do 2-3 submissions initially, and then do more over time after so that Aiden does not burn out on a specific model.
