Full charisma! JK JK I am the worst guard on the server so you might want to listen to someone else. I can put in some screen shots of my skills when i get home as a starting point tho.

First of all, the attributes will depends later on your armor.
So concentrate on your skilltree first , and for the beginning it's recommended to be sure what u wanna play.
More pvp or pve and for that case use the attribute points.

My self skilled actually full strength , for max dmg
I would show u my skilltree, but actually we can't go in the game :/

Guess newb will have same issues.

JFYI , my skilltree would just depends of 1 skill which u permanently use , so if that is something for u , let me know and we can go through it :)

Any guardians out there who can tell me if their preference is 1H or 2H, and why? I am thinking of building my guard differently this time, and go 2H to start, and add 2nd mastery later if I want to swap to 1H? By the way, I would be primarily PVE.

Also, thank you, Charmingnails for providing the links for your masteries. I appreciate that.

I prefer 1h myself. Just due to the way it plays. I like more of a defensive/support role and with me being able to put a anti stun buff or put a shield around my party makes me a bit more useful compared to if i was just dps.

I also run with a full charisma build so it makes me a decent tank when I'm paired up with my bird. I know plenty of people that play hybrid builds that use both and swap depending on their needs.

Its always best to try new things out. Resets for skills only cost gold so play around with the skills and see what sort of stuff you enjoy :)

Overall dps is tons better on 2h. 1hand is a bit more for party play i think.

Thank you, Newb. You gave me a few more things to consider and I appreciate the information.
I'll likely continue with 2h to start then open 1h later for some options.
The other nice thing is that it is easy to reset my attributes or masteries later if I am unhappy with the results of my build. Currently I'm going 2 str & then I alternate 1 in Foc and Cha each level. I keep looking at fero and con but haven't assigned any attributes there yet.
Thanks again!

Cool :) Fero is great for pve and str will give you raw damage. I would not really worry about putting anything into charisma to be honest. Once you get your 105 gear your dragon will be half way decent. Focus on getting a couple extra % points into crit chance and power since your dps will be the primary.

If this thread's still going, I've been playing a PvE party tank guardian since the game's release in 2013. My attributes when 3/4 focus (that's where the damage came from through some phys damage and a ton of armor penetration, but made for great PvE damage reduction) and 1/4 constitution. I had all four mastery sets unlocked, but the most commonly used were 2H Bazaka for damage and 1H Bazaka for when solo'ing dungeons with a need for tanking. When in parties I used my 1H Piersar build. I can post some images of the skill trees if needed :)

Thank you, Heminyx! I appreciate the info. :)
Anytime! If you need help and I'm in game, my characters are Heminyx and Panzernyx. Currently low level, but I know a ton about the game and its lore so I can help with questions :D
